OCR: A Hexagram is made up of two kinds of lines: solid lines = and broken lines - -. The broken line corresponds to 'Yin' and the solid line with "Yang'. The Yin and Yang represent the duality of the universe Male/Female, Hot/Cold, Positive/negative, and so on. Even though the Yin and Yang appear to be opposites they are not -- because both Yin and Yang are considered interdependent polarities. Yin can't exist without Yang, Yang can't exist without Yin. Both are necessary for the existence of either to become a part of reality. Yang represents the male/active, and Yin represents the female/passive. Light/Darkness, Life/Death, Up/Down, The Yin/Yang are all components of the Yin/Yang as well as thousands of other concepts. The Trigram* is explained next. * click the asterisk for more info.
